Founder of Nurturing Family Doula
Residing in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and servicing the surrounding areas, Sarah Murphy is a professional doula with a deep passion for supporting families through one of life’s most transformative experiences. Her approach is calm, intuitive, and grounded in the belief that every birthing person deserves to feel informed, respected, and empowered throughout their journey.
Before stepping into the world of birth work, Sarah obtained her Bachelor’s degree in computer science and works as a test engineer. To her surprise, everything shifted after the birth of her own children. Experiencing pregnancy, labor, and postpartum firsthand sparked something profound—what began as a personal journey quickly grew into a calling.
Sarah discovered that caring for and supporting birthing women came naturally to her. She found herself drawn to providing reassurance, education, and a steady presence during pregnancy and labor, and it became clear that this work aligned deeply with who she is. What started as a passion has since grown into a meaningful profession centered around connection, trust, and compassionate care.
Today, Sarah is honored to walk alongside families as they prepare for and welcome their babies, offering continuous support, encouragement, and evidence based guidance every step of the way.

Sarah and her husband have been married for twelve years and have three beautiful daughters together. She enjoys spending time with her family outdoors—whether camping, hiking, swimming, or simply going for walks together.
